Superintendent Letter

July 30, 2021

Dear Logan Parents,

With just a few weeks until the first day of school on August 16, we are looking forward to welcoming back our students and staff for another school year.

School is still a bit different in this COVID environment, but some restrictions have been eased since last year. See our “Fall 2021 Procedures” document for details and important changes under the “For Parents” tab on the website.

Student registration for all grades will take place on Tuesday, August 3, from 8 am to 4 pm. During this event, we will need families to complete or update several forms containing emergency contacts, student enrollment details, and our school lunch application. One new form will allow parents to “opt out” their children from school-administered COVID testing. On that day, families may also pick up student schedules (grades 6-12), as well as prepay lunch accounts, visit with the nurse about health needs, or ask any other questions. Please make plans to join us for this important registration event on August 3!

We have several new staff members at Logan. April Stone returns, teaching elementary art and Grade 6 math, as well as providing intervention support in K-5 reading & math. Maribel Lucero and Cindy Stamps join the staff as instructional aides. And both Norma Bruhn and Thomas Whaley have joined the custodial team, which works hard to keep our building safe and clean!

Finally, the district is holding a “Child Find” event from 8 am – 3 pm on Thursday, August 19, to identify any 3 or 4 year olds who may be in need of services or simply want to enroll in preschool. Our preschool program will return to its previous schedule, with 3 year olds attending 8 am – 4 pm on Mondays & Wednesdays and 4 year olds attending 8 am – 4 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Call the school office to make an appointment for your preschooler.

I am confident that 2021-2022 is going to be another fantastic year to be a Logan Longhorn!

Sincerely,

Dennis J. Roch
